Freakier Friday

Freakier Friday

Directed by Nisha Ganatra

The Hollywood Nostalgia Train keeps rolling on and sorry not sorry but the next stop is for the girls and gays. Reuniting Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis nearly 23 years later for another FREAKY FRIDAY body swap adventure is exactly the cinematic event we need right now.

Welcome back LL!!! After a few years on Netflix, this DIVA is back and oh my god she's the mom now with JLC as grandma. I knew this going in obviously, but still wasn't fully prepared to see it in action. When did we get so old?! ANYWAY, the nostalgia starts and it don't stop, but rather than laying it on thick this fun frothy family adventure let's the movie speak for itself.

Lohan and Manny Jacinto (absolutely stunning) are single parents who meet cute and instantly hit it off. Our two gorgeous love birds have tons of chemistry and it's so fun watching them be cute and in love together. Of course their daughters don't get along and of course JLC grandma is overbearing as usual. Tensions rise as a wedding gets closer and family lessons must be learned.

You know what happens next! But this time there's a 4 way swap that my smooth baby brain sometimes had trouble keeping up with, but that's a me problem for sure. Hilarity ensues as we get to see Lohan and Curtis act like teenagers again. The two daughters also do an admirable job portraying the now adult personas trapped in their bodies.

Sometimes the powers that be get it right. Making sure this is a proper theatrical release and reuniting the original cast is paramount to success! I was so happy seeing Mark Harmon back, even in his small role he is a comforting screen presence. Chad Michael Murray, somehow more gorgeous than ever, low-key steals the movie a little bit. I completely forgot about his running joke from the first movie, so I was tickled pink. No spoilers if you don't remember!

The picture is crisp, but definitely overlit and occasionally a bit gaudy but not the entire time. Sometimes it will look like direct to video quality and sometimes it's beautiful and really pops. Overall this is really fun and elevated above the usual nostalgia cash grab. More Lohan NOW!

Freakiest Friday anyone?
