NO KINGS BUT DRAG KINGS

We support everyone taking to the streets today, June 14th, for the NO KINGS PROTEST.

It is a deep honor to serve this city I love so much—and to serve you. Being Drag Laureate has allowed me to amplify joy, visibility, and resilience in ways I never imagined. It’s also given me a chance to work with and support hundreds of amazing performers and artists. But I would be lying if I said it’s easy to celebrate today.

At this very moment, many of our immigrant siblings are facing escalating threats, unjust detentions, and attacks on their rights and safety. I know I’m not alone in feeling terrified, furious, and helpless—often all at once. And yet—I know we are not powerless.

What We Can Do

If you choose to protest, please protest smart and safe:

  • Remain calm and as peaceful as possible to avoid retaliation.

  • Stay in public spaces. Protesting on federal property can result in federal charges.

  • Designate an emergency contact and memorize their number in case you are detained and can’t access your phone.

  • Be careful what you post online. Social media is monitored by agitators and infiltrators. Sharing sensitive information can unintentionally put others at risk. Turn your location off and put your phone in airplane mode, or even better, leave it at home.

Essential Community Resources -  Stand Up, Show Up, Support

SF Immigrant Legal & Education Network (SFILEN)

  • Rapid Response Hotline (24/7, bilingual): 415-200-1548 - If the line is busy, please try again—they often have only one dispatcher at a time.

They provide:

  • Raid Verification – helping communities separate fact from fear

  • Attorney Activation – connecting detainees with legal help

Faith in Action Bay Area

Faith in Action Bay Area is a grassroots network working tirelessly to protect and uplift immigrants and marginalized communities across the Bay. Their programs are rooted in values of dignity, solidarity, and collective action—and they offer tangible ways for each of us to make a difference right now.

Whether you have time, money, or a platform, there’s a way to get involved:

  • Visibility Team: Distribute “Know Your Rights” cards, posters, and hotline info

  • Verification Team: Confirm and document ICE activity (training provided)

  • Accompaniment Team: Attend ICE check-ins and court dates as community support

  • Mutual Aid Fund: Provides legal and emergency support to families impacted by detention or deportation

    Get Involved:

     Train
     Volunteer
     Donate to Mutual Aid

Amid the many calls to action, I’m reminded of our role in the community—to offer a space to gather, to laugh, cry, and connect. A place to dance, fall in love, and sing without fear. Oasis has always been, and will remain, a joyful refuge. Let us be your sanctuary. We’re here when you need us.
